- The letters need to be posted by 17-Sep-06 to make the deadline.
- Spread the word - share this letter by email or by hand.
- Posters and letters of objection are available from Balance in Napiershall Street.
Please delete paragraphs you do not agree with and add any others you feel are appropriate as desired. Please note that the deadline date for objections is 22 September (which is the Friday of the holiday weekend). To make sure they get there on time, please post by 17 September.
We would ask you to forward this letter on to everyone in your mailing address list or even print out enough copies to put through your neighbours doors. If you could also ensure that those streets which fall adjacent to the CPZ areas are also covered. MPAG have carried out a brief survey and the majority of people know nothing of the new proposals to extend the schemes.
MPAG's position has not changed, in that we continue to fight these draconian measures imposed by the Council. We object to the lack of proper consultation and the impact that displaced parking is having on surrounding areas. We are also concerned about the major impact to local businesses and to visitng friends. The Council has failed to take notice of these concerns and is determined to drive forward with their own agenda regardless of the impact on the local community. This is a money-making scheme and one which is not meeting the concerns of commuter parking in the west-end. Remember that commuters can now park all day in any area due to the relaxation of the time-restrictions ie they can stay longer than 3 hours.
Posters to alert people to the new proposals and letters of objection are being printed and will be availalbe from Monday at Balance in Napiershall Street. Please drop by and pick up a bundle for distribution. Your help is needed!

Meeting for Kelvingrove residents. The Director of Land Services in his report to the Roads & Lighting Committee last Tuesday stated that the time restrictions in the Kelvingrove area are to be extended due to representations made on behalf of the Yorkhill and Kelvingrove Community Council. This means that the CPZ would be enforced 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm. This was not the case and as such an emergency meeting is being held. - Updated 11-May-06:

Note that this is a consultation document and we expect to meet with the Council to discuss this in the first instance. When we have a response from them it will then go out to proper public consultation.
We know that many people are at the end of their tether and are on the verge of asking the Council to become a metered zone. Can we suggest that you don't do this, but instead read over our proposal and write to the Council urging them to meet with us to discuss a proper and thorough review of the current schemes. If enough of us write to the Council asking for these to be implemented then we stand a good chance of getting what we want and not something that the Council has imposed. Don't let's forget that the situation we are in is Council-induced, this is not something that we as Glasgow City Council Tax Payers asked for.
We must fight for democracy and get the Council to listen to what we want for the benefit of the residents, businesses and visitors to the west end.
Please pass this message on to anyone you know so that they too may consider the alternative proposals.
